Montex Exhibition – 19th November 2008.
The Montfort Exhibition, Montex-2008 was officially inaugurated on 19.11.2008 by Mr.Ramaraj, the Chief Educational Officer of Salem district. This exhibition was conducted at the Intra-School level. Every student took part in this exhibition by way of bringing atleast one project in the subject of his / her own interest. The opportunity to get ready projects was enthused even before the Quarterly holidays began, so that they worked on it way ahead of time. This exhibition was organized from 19th afternoon till 22nd afternoon.
The exhibition was organized in four different venues. The projects of Junior School were displayed in the Eugene Hall and the projects of Senior school were exhibited in the three labs, T.T.hall and in the Computer lab.
In the Junior school, the exhibits were categorized into 14 different departments based on the subject. It was a marvelous sight to see even a third standard student bringing a high level project. Their ideas were put forward in a wonderful manner.
Coming to the Senior school, the Physics department had many interesting experiments such as Bernoulli’s theorem, cyclotron, laser based F.M. Radio and the large hadron collidor. The Biology department came out with projects such as Know your blood group, tissue culture, medicinal plants, dentistry and a special section on heart diseases. The Chemistry department exhibited many eye catching experiments like the Ammonia fountain, chemical volcano and cosmic rocket.
The T.T. hall housed 10 various departments. The English department had on display a wide range of classical books and information on famous poets and authors. The Tamil department portrayed significant incidents in Tamil history. The Hindi department threw light upon Hindi literature and our Indian culture. The French department provided a feast to the eyes exhibiting French cuisine and French culture. The Maths department kept the visitors reasoning and thinking with a number of mind bogglers and brain teasers. The Social Studies department had various models exhibiting the geographical features of our planet and also models depicting our history. The Commerce and Accountancy department explained the elements present in the wheel of commerce. The most colourful department, the Art department exhibited the talents of Montfortians in art and craft. The Physical Education department displayed models based on different sports and games. The Beijing Olympics was also brought to focus. The Computer Science department also never disappointed the visitors. It housed power point presentations, video clips, flash applications and much more.
