Independence Day
The 62nd Independence Day Celebrations began with a special assembly organized by the Montfort N.C.C cadets. The programme began with the hoisting of the National  Flag by the honoured Chief Guest Fr. Mario Rodiskini an Italian missionary who had rendered valuable service as  a social worker all over Tamil Nadu.

Bro. Principal welcomed the Chief Guest with warm words of appreciation, of his noteworthy mission work in remote parts of Tamilnadu. The speech evoked a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for this ‘fragile but noble Figure’ who had committed himself in the service of humanity, particularly in Tamilnadu. Bro. Principal said that the quality of a Nation depends on the quality of its educated persons. He challenged all the teachers and students to become conscious of this and march forward proudly taking India to greater heights in all dimension. For this, he said that we need an educational system clothed in discipline and cleaniness. The N.C.C cadets presented thought provoking speeches, quotes and songs that evoked the patriotic sentiments in the hearts of everyone gathered which consisted of Montfortians and other schools participating in the Montfort tournaments. The Chief Guest was honoured with a poonadi and a floral bonquet by Bro. Ignatius and Bro. Augustine respectively. Fr. Mario, in his short and sweet speech proved his love for India by acknowledging the progress that ‘Bharatmata’ had achieved during the last 62 years. This Italian missionary kindled a patriotic fervour among the gathering by concluding his speech with ‘Jai Hind’……… This was followed by the National Anthem.
