Rural Sports

11th Annual Rural Sports Festival was conducted on 11th February, 2010. It is an Annual programme where in Montfortians demonstrate their generosity and kindness towards the less privileged rural children of Yercaud Taluk. The teachers and students worked hard to make this programme a success. Nearly 37 busses were arranged to transport more than 4200 students from 60 villages of Yercaud Taluk. These children were picked up early in the morning by our volunteers and staff members. On reaching the school all  were given breakfast and a colourful T–shirt along with a badge. After the breakfast our students and staff members organised games and competitions for them. Around 1500 prizes were distributed on the spot. A special lunch was served to the children and staff members from these schools at 12.30pm.    Mr. Chandra Kumar, I.A.S, Collector of Salem was the Chief Guest of the day. The Afternoon’s programme began with a grand March past by the Community school and Montfort School Children. After the Olympic torch, the inter school relay competitions were organized. This was followed by a cultural programmes and drill displays by the rural children and the Community school children. The Chief Guest appreciated the Principal, students and members of staff for organizing such a humanitarian programme for the Rural Children. M. Kaliappan, D.E.O, Mr. Vasu, D.E.E.O  also participated in the programme and appreciated Montfort for organizing such an event for the Rural children.  All the teachers, Mid-day meal organizers and helpers from the rural schools were given suitable souvenirs.  After the finale, children and the members of staff were dropped back to their villages.
