The proposal by the government regarding Rainwater harvesting was taken up very seriously by the authorities at Montfort. Water being the most precious but scarce natural resource as years fly past, we not only have to conscientious students about conserving water but preach through precept. Hence the Management took up a Rain water harvesting Project.

All the playfields and sources of running water were connected through a well designed drainage / pipe system. Luckily the portion of land chosen turned out to be the far and low end of the premises. Very systematically all the rain water drains into a large collecting tank. This helps settling down of silt or mud carried down by the running water. The overflow pipe is fixed at a height with a filter to sieve away floating impurities. This outlet leads into a huge artificial lake.

The origin of this lake was a blessing in disguise perhaps! All the mud taken from this portion of land for the extension of the 400 meters track formed a huge crater. It measures___in diameter and can hold water ____. Cleverly it has been utilized to serve another important purpose – Conserving water. All around this water body is a beautiful garden sprouting. Soon it will turn out to be a spot of attraction for boating and leisure time solace! You will admire the presence of ‘Our Lady’ – Mother of Jesus, as she will add beauty and solemnity to this unique spot in the campus.
